At the 7th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honours on February 17th, 2025, Keke Palmer was awarded the Renaissance Award, recognizing her multifaceted career in entertainment.
The event, held at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrated outstanding contributions to film and television. Palmer, known for her roles in Akeelah and the Bee and Nope, as well as her work as a singer, producer, and author, expressed gratitude for the recognition.
She emphasized the importance of community support in her journey, recalling her early days singing solos in church. Palmer also praised the ABFF for uplifting Black stories and creators, expressing her desire to continue building her legacy as a platform for others.
Other honorees included Marla Gibbs, who received the Hollywood Legacy Award; Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, honored with the Excellence in the Arts Award (Female); Giancarlo Esposito, awarded the Excellence in the Arts Award (Male); and Aaron Pierre, recognized with the Rising Star Award. The ceremony highlighted the achievements of Black artists and their contributions to the entertainment industry.
Keke Palmer’s appearance on the teal carpet was a highlight of the evening, showcasing her vibrant presence and connection with the community. The ABFF Honors continues to serve as a significant platform, celebrating Black excellence in the arts and fostering a sense of unity among artists and audiences alike.
