At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 2nd, 2025, Alicia Keys was honoured with the prestigious Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.
In her acceptance speech at the Crypto. com Arena in Los Angeles, Keys delivered a compelling message emphasizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
She stated, “DEI is not a threat, it’s a gift,” countering recent statements that have linked diversity policies to negative outcomes.
Keys highlighted the value of diverse voices and the strength they bring to the music industry. She called for continued empathy, compassion, and soul care, encouraging everyone to keep opening doors for more voices.
During her speech, she also thanked influential figures like Dr. Dre and other notable women in the music industry who paved the way.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. praised Keys’ legacy and contributions to music and beyond. Additionally, Keys won the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album for Hell’s Kitchen, a Broadway play inspired by her life.
